Our Story

Medical translation built around what clinicians and regulators actually need.

Translate Care was started in Kent, Ohio in 2013 by a team that had seen firsthand how bad medical translation creates real problems. Consent forms with ambiguous language. Drug labels with dosing instructions that read unnaturally. Patient education materials that healthcare staff did not trust to actually communicate what was intended.

The approach we built was straightforward: assign translators with real medical background to medical work. A pharmacist-turned-linguist for pharmaceutical documents. A former clinical research coordinator for trial protocols. A mental health practitioner background for psychiatric assessments. Not a general translator with a medical dictionary.

Eleven years later, we cover 80+ language pairs and six healthcare translation disciplines. The team has grown. The approach is the same.

How We Work

Three principles that
run through every project.

Medical specialist assignment

Every project is assigned to a translator with verified background in the relevant medical discipline -- not a general linguist who can technically read the words.

HIPAA-aware workflow

Patient data is handled under our confidentiality protocol. We sign HIPAA Business Associate Agreements for healthcare providers who require them.

Fixed-price quotes, confirmed before work begins

You know the cost before the translator is assigned. No word-count surprises at delivery. Quote locked at submission.

Disciplines

Six healthcare translation
disciplines. One team.

We specialize by medical content type because the skills required differ substantially. A pharmaceutical regulatory translator and a mental health materials translator are different types of specialists, even when working the same language pair. We staff them separately and assign specifically.
